💜 Good afternoon everyone!! Today is the day our little rascals start their crate training journey!! It’s a little sad at the start, but as you can see they settle fairly quickly as the scent of siblings is comforting and a nap is hard to resist. 😴
We buddy them up week 1 of crate training as this will be the first time they are away from mama, and we want the training to be a positive experience for them.
Then week 2, we start them off solo with a snuggly to chew on and cuddle with.
The fan you hear in the background is directed at our juniors in crates who run a little hot, and are more comfortable with a fan as well as the lullabies.

🦋 Hello everyone!! I would love for you to meet River, an English Labrador. Some of you have met her at CandyvillePups on different occasions. 🐶

She has been living and loving with me, Sarah, as her guardian home. 🏡

🤗 Her expressive personality makes life a constant adventure and comedy. I get so many good laughs out of her hilarious expressions.
She loves with everything she has, is very affectionate and playful. ⚽️
🐽 Her favourite things to do are going on sniffaris, running full tilt into the lake for a long swim 🌊 (but she’s not keen on baths 🤣 that’s where the puppy dog eyes come out)

She absolutely loves long hikes, 💃 dancing with her human, cuddling on the couch for a movie 🎬, any and all snacks, and “find the object/scent”.

🦮 She has her moments where the ears turn off when she is in full sniff mode, but all around has been so easy to train, she is very attentive.
💞 River is a people lover, any one she meets gets the full body wiggle and lab energy.

💕 Early scent introduction (ESI) is a training program for puppies designed to enhance their ability to identify, and react to, specific scents. Each day, we introduce a strong scent to the puppy for brief intervals, and record the puppy’s reaction.

The reaction is considered to be positive when the puppy shows interest in the scent, moving toward it.
A negative reaction is recorded when the puppy tries to get away from the scent.
And finally, when a puppy is neither interested nor disinterested in the scent, this is a neutral reaction.

♥️stronger adrenal glands
♥️more tolerance to stress and
♥️ a greater resistance to disease.

👩‍🏫 In tests of learning, stimulated pups were found to be more active and were more exploratory than their non- stimulated littermates over which they were dominant in competitive situations.

Secondary effects were also noted regarding test performance. In simple problem solving tests using detours in a maze, the non-stimulated pups became extremely aroused, whined a great deal, and made many errors. Their stimulated littermates were less disturbed or upset by test conditions and when comparisons were made, the stimulated littermates were more calm in the test environment, made fewer errors and gave only an occasional distress sound when stressed.
